From Steve’s Library 4/29/2005
Last year I spent a lot of time studying the 43 kings of Israel and Judah. Out of those 43 kings only 8 of them would fit into the category of “good.” The other 35 were evil, wicked and self-centered and they did nothing but waste their lives.
One of the tasks of a king was to prepare his son to lead the kingdom for the next generation. None of them did that except David. After failing with his other three sons, David got focused on mentoring Solomon. Fathers are to prepare their sons to lead their families for the next generation. When I used to play checkers with my dad, I would get my checker all the way across the board and then I would say, “Dad, king me!” Every boy wants a dad who will prepare him to be the man that God intends.
I am really pleased to announce that my new book, King Me, is off the presses. It’s for fathers and grandfathers who want to play a strategic role in mentoring the next generation of their families. You can order it by clicking the King Me cover on the right side of this page.
And a free study guide for King Me can be downloaded here: Download king_me_study_guide.pdf
