Bravery

From Steve’s Library 4/25/2005

It was after the prophet Elijah severely chastised King Ahab and his Queen Jezebel, that he walked out of the palace. The thing that took guts in the first place was walking into the palace. Elijah knew Ahab and Jezebel’s reputation well. They had put previous prophets to death, but God had asked Elijah to deliver a message by overnight delivery. God asked and Elijah went. His display of raw courage, backed by his love of God, was enough to send Elijah directly into harm’s way.

So unprecedented was Elijah’s bravery that Ahab and Jezebel were stunned. Scripture records that Ahab had put out the Old Testament equivalent to an all point bulletin to bring in Elijah’s head on a
stick.

In all, the story of Elijah’s bravery reminds us that God is our protector. We can go in confidence and know he will protect us if we are in His will.
