Ask any budding young musician his or her goal in life. What’s the reply going to be? Oh I really want to be second-chair violin someday. Well, probably not. Do you know any young boys who want to grow up to be a second-string quarterback? Not likely. Everybody wants to be first. But the problem is, Christian leadership is giving your best without having to be first.
Let me ask you a question. Are you willing to become a servant? Unless I miss my guess, that serving stuff may not come naturally for you. It certainly doesn’t for me. It may not be your knee-jerk reaction to situations in your life. It’s certainly not in mine. But you know what? I really don’t have an option, I’m called to be a servant and so are you.
