Ahab was the king of Israel. Israel wasn’t just any nation, it was God’s nation. These were God’s people who had been called for a specific purpose. They were to be distinct and different because God had something very special for them to accomplish as a nation in his plan for the world.
The problem was that Ahab and Jezebel thought that Israel belonged to them. They were leading the nation down the path of godlessness, immorality and wickedness. It looked like they would get away with it, that is until the prophet Elijah showed up. Elijah was a man who couldn’t be bought. Elijah arrived on the scene and exposed Ahab and Jezebel to something they knew very little about, the Truth.
You see, part of being a Christian is about standing up against evil and ungodliness, even if the leaders around you are sanctioning such behavior.
