Who’s Leading Your Family?
We live in a culture that is bombarding us with messages promoting an agenda of moral relativism. Human beings are like sponges; we tend to soak up what we’re immersed in, whether we want to or not.
Access
A lot of us guys are not detail oriented, but when it comes to our kids, there are certain details we need to be aware of. If you read through the Book of Esther, you will find that the key man in her life, Mordecai, was always hanging around the gate to the palace. Now why would he do that? It’s simple.
If you don’t have any grey hair, your daughter isn’t dating yet.
Fathers in America have been taken out of the dating process. It’s time they quickly got back in. When my daughter was beginning to date, it meant I was beginning the dating process too.
Look like a Llama
Several years ago, numerous sheep ranchers in a section of Montana were losing sheep at an incredible rate to marauding coyotes. One woman lost 50 lambs, nearly one per week, to the relentless predators. Nothing worked, until she got a Llama.
A son with a biblical worldview
The Word of God gets a young man down the path of life. Without it, he’s like a blind man with a blind guide dog. In the same way, your son’s education is obviously also important. You can’t shield your son from a godless worldview.
King Me and King Me Study Guide
Last year I spent a lot of time studying the 43 kings of Israel and Judah. Out of those 43 kings only 8 of them would fit into the category of “good.” The other 35 were evil, wicked and self-centered and they did nothing but waste their lives.
Bravery
It was after the prophet Elijah severely chastised King Ahab and his Queen Jezebel, that he walked out of the palace. The thing that took guts in the first place was walking into the palace. Elijah knew Ahab and Jezebel’s reputation well. They had put previous prophets to death,
Defend the Truth of God
The prophet Elijah spoke the truth of God. He confronted King Ahab about the king and queen’s wickedness and God’s message stuck. Even though Elijah delivered God’s message, he was still just a man.
Can you be bought?
Ahab was the king of Israel. Israel wasn’t just any nation, it was God’s nation. These were God’s people who had been called for a specific purpose. They were to be distinct and different because God had something very special for them to accomplish as a nation in his plan for the world.
Deliver the message of God, regardless!
As I said in my last post, the prophet Elijah had no interest in public opinion polls, and neither should we. He didn’t lick his finger and stick it in the air to see which way the wind was blowing.
Clear Colors
I don’t know who wrote the following thoughts, but my daughter gave this to me a few years ago when doing a high school bible study. Here are some of the highlights: “I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit’s power. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Will Jesus recognize you?
When Christ comes again to claim His own, will He recognize you? Is your stand for Jesus clear or is it muddled? In your career, are you known as a Christian? Does your family know you as a man of God? How about the IRS, are you honest with them? Are you living a life of sexual purity?
Get Ready to Lead
The fact is, all leaders must be born. And from there on in they are constantly learning. I believe this new era of American history will call upon leaders to possess two fundamental qualities, courage and holiness. That’s why you may be experiencing difficulty in your life right now. God is getting you ready for leadership.
